Story of Tribal wedding:

Ever imagined of a situation where a son could not marry because his parents never married… Well it sounds very strange because unless parents don’t marry the son cannot marry!!! What is even stranger is how could parents have a child without getting married. The immediate doubt that we get in our mind is of this being an illegal act of the parents!

Universal and Conventional process is to give birth to a child only after getting married… But in many cases it is not so in the Dangs! Sounds surprising and unbelievable. Even I thought the same before I happened to understand it from a broader perspective through the tribes of Dangs. This is the case with plenty of Tribal families.

The learning that I have dawned out of the findings takes my respect for the tribes even higher… Yes they got into the relationship without getting married but with due respect of community. The tribes are allowed to do such an act officially and for them it is legal. These tribes when they got into relation did not marry since it was a costly affair then. They have to spend behind wedding preparations and most expensive of all – the cost of dining the entire village (of size ranging 500 to 2000 tribes). They did not have the money for the official wedding in tribal way. Hence they did not marry. This is an adjustment act and we need to learn a lot from this thought. Now that their son/daughter is an adult and they have sufficient money for the wedding, they (the parents) will marry first (about few minutes before) their son/daughter. Hence they will get officially married before their sons/daughters wedding. One must be surprised to know that in some instances there are Three generations that get married on the same day…

I think the Tribes of Dangs have simple solution to most complex problem. The cause for such act is that generations should not suffer due to poor economic condition.

Story of low cost innovation…

At Dangs 90% of the area is covered under forest. Hence it is the perfect habitat for wild life and insects. Here I am sighting a low cost innovation by a tribal boy who would be less than 10 years in age.

I shall not write a bigger story on this since photograph speaks it all… – A simple low cost innovation to keep the insects like mosquitoes away while he is grazing the cow. What he has done is burn a little cow dung cake and wood that will emit smoke and keep the mosquitoes and other insects away.

A simple solution that does not kill mosquitoes or insects. A son of the soil finding an indigenous solution without harming the insects. To many he should be an example of sustainable tourism. In this era of technology we design gadgets that develop resonance at a set frequency to keep such insects away and sell it at a premium price whereas this little tribal boy teaches us of how to find the solution at zero cost!!!

Come and explore such thousands of innovations @ Rural Pleasure…
